Leaf Blower Ban

The Village of Larchmont Board of Trustees has approved new code regulating leaf blowers. Effective March 13, 2023, electric leaf blowers are permitted for spring clean-up from *March 15 through April 30 and fall clean-up October 15 to December 15, with temporary allowances as determined by the Mayor for extreme weather events. Gas-powered leaf blowers are not permitted at any time. The code was passed in response to a review of scientific data establishing that leaf blowers, and the emissions, airborne particulates, loud noise and powerful air currents they generate, negatively impact public health, daily activities and environmental sustainability in our community.

During the permitted periods (Mar. 15 - Apr. 30 and Oct. 15 - Dec. 15), use of electric leaf blowers are allowed in the Village of Larchmont for spring/fall clean-up operations. Electric leaf blowers may be used during these period only during the following times:

  • Mondays through Fridays, excluding holidays: between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
  • Saturdays: between 10:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
  • Sundays and holidays: property owners only between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
