UNACCEPTABLE Rubbish Items

The following will NOT be collected or accepted at Maxwell Avenue Facility:

  • Construction debris
  • Building materials
  • Tree stumps
  • Dirt
  • Stones
  • Clay flower pots
  • All other NONBURNABLE MATERIALS
  • If work is being done by a contractor, the contractor must remove and dispose of all construction debris.
  • Extra large items, including:
    Pianos, pool tables, bath tubs, etc.
    Please call a private carter for collection.
  • Metal frame windows and screens
  • Hazardous household waste
    Acids, alcohols, pesticides, solvents, etc.
    Please call the Household Chemical Information Line
    at (914) 813-5425.

Bulky Metal Items/Appliances

Bulk Metal will be collected on Wednesdays. You must call your Highway Department to arrange for pick-up.

  • Larchmont Village Residents call 834-6965
  • Mamaroneck Town Residents call 381-7825

Call for pick-up by 2:00 pm the day before (metal items only)

 

Household Sharps

Many people use sharps (needles, syringes, and lancets) as part of their home medical care. Proper disposal of sharps is important to the safety of the sharps user and the people who handle trash. Follow the guidelines in this brochure to keep yourself and others safe.

  • Use a container that is leakproof, shatterproof, and puncture proof with a screw top (durable plastic bottles such as empty bleach or detergent bottles).

Disposal of Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs)

What is a cathode ray tube appliance?

  • Any type of television set,
  • Any type of computer terminal or monitor.

How do I dispose of CRTs?

  • CRTs will NOT be collected with rubbish or garbage.
  • Residents of the unincorporated Town or Village of Larchmont may bring CRTs to the Maxwell Avenue recycling center. For directions to the center call 381-7810.
