Yard Waste and Leaf Collection

The Sanitation Commission collects regular yard waste curbside from the beginning of April through November 01.

The Village of Larchmont DPW collects leaves curbside from mid-October through mid-December. Leaf piles are to be raked into a neat pile on the street as close to the curb as possible, under no circumstances intruding into the travel lane. Leaf piles should also never be placed above catch basins or directly in front of fire hydrants.

Leaf piles must not include any other organic waste, including grass clippings, branches/twigs.

Please consider mulch mowing as an alternative to leaf disposal. For more information, visit our Sustainable Landscape Maintenance page.

Christmas Trees Disposal
The Village of Larchmont collects Christmas trees curbside. There is no need to call the Department of Public Works to pick up your tree if you place it curbside right after the holiday season (December thru February). Trees must be placed curbside without plastic bags, decorations, or light strands.

Wrapping paper is not recyclable, and must be placed with general waste.

Westchester County Household Material Recovery Facility

Westchester County operates the Household Material Recovery Facility (H-MRF) on the Grasslands Campus in Valhalla.  The H-MRF will accept household chemicals, electronics, Freon containing appliances, scrap tires, BBQ tanks, and confidential documents for shredding. The H-MRF will be open 3 days a week, including Saturdays, and residents will need to schedule an appointment to deliver waste to the site. To insure you receive an official announcement of the H-MRF opening, days and hours of operation and instructions for scheduling a delivery, residents are encouraged to subscribe to the County’s Environment/Conservation Quick News at www.westchestergov.com.  Look for and click on “Subscribe”.  You can also call the County’s Recycling HelpLine (which operates 24/7) at (914) 813-5425.
